Manuel Núñez Butrón was a revolutionary. As a doctor, he clearly understood that his job was not only to cure the sick but to prevent people from getting sick. Faced with a system that secularly marginalized our indigenous population, he tried to rescue this great mass of unjustly forgotten Peruvians from ignorance, unhealthiness and negative habits. And furthermore, as a man from the highlands, he knew how to proudly carry the name his people baptized him with: “Indian Doctor.” His inspiring story is told in this comic through the illustrations of the Arequipa group TAWA and the texts of the writer Hernán Garrido-Lecca.
